Art Print Sizes, Finishes & Framing Guide

Every CapturedLoom artwork is offered in a range of sizes and two finishes. This guide sets out exactly what is available so you can choose with confidence. The options for each artwork are shown on its product page.

Sizes

Sizes are given as width × height in inches, with the approximate equivalent in centimetres. Each artwork is offered in one format: portrait, square or wide.

Classic Print

Classic Prints are printed on 310gsm Hahnemühle German Etching paper, a heavyweight sheet with a textured surface and a fine, natural grain. Classic Prints are available in every size listed above, either unframed or with a matching frame in Black, White, Natural, Brown or Grey.

Premium Canvas

Premium Canvas is offered in the five largest sizes of each format: from 24 × 30″ for portrait artworks, from 24 × 24″ for square artworks and from 30 × 24″ for wide artworks. Choose Stretched Canvas, or a matching Canvas Frame in Black, Brown, Gold, Natural, Silver or White.

Choosing a size

A few widely used guidelines can help. Above a sofa, sideboard or bed, artwork that spans roughly two thirds of the furniture’s width tends to sit comfortably. For a single piece on an open wall, the larger sizes (32 × 40″ and above) read clearly from across a room, while 12 × 16″ to 20 × 24″ suit shelves, hallways and grouped arrangements. Many galleries hang work so that its centre sits around 145 to 150 cm from the floor, which is close to average eye level.

If you are unsure, measure the wall space, mark the intended artwork size with masking tape and live with it for a day before ordering. Allow a little extra for the frame.

Choosing a frame finish

Black and Grey frames add definition and suit bolder, darker or monochrome works. White and Natural frames keep pale, pastel and floral pieces light. Brown frames sit well with warm, earthy palettes and wooden furniture. On canvas, Gold and Silver Canvas Frames give a more formal, gallery-style edge.
